The suburbs were ranked based on the following criteria: amenities, cost of living, crime, education, and employment. The crime rate in Plano is 14% below the national average and  11% below that of the rest of the state of Texas. The median income in Plano is 77.8% higher than the average in Texas & 57.9 % above the national average. Plano’s cost of living is slightly higher than the Texas average by 5.5%
